Asuka ★ 3.3
Hentai Juggle
Huh. An Evangelion hentai game where you just... bounce a ball. Not exactly the traumatized pilot simulator I expected. Asuka’s there, red hair blazing in the background art you unlock, and I’m just staring at this little sphere like it owes me money. The whole thing runs on accuracy, which is a polite way of saying the hitbox feels drunk sometimes. You’d think keeping a ball airborne would be simple but the physics have this weird floaty drag, then suddenly it rockets sideways because your mouse was a pixel off. You rack up kick-ups to peel away censored layers on the Eva girls. The first few reveals are whatever, standard pinup poses, but then you get Asuka in her plugsuit with that look, you know the one, half annoyed half daring you to keep going. The art’s rough around the edges, deliberately messy linework that somehow makes it hotter than those overpolished 3D renders everyone uses. There’s a force field charge you can trigger to freeze the ball midair, buying you a second to breathe or, let’s be real, to gawk at the unlocked smut without losing your streak. And 3D glasses? A toggle that makes the whole screen go cross-eyed if you’re not careful, like a budget red-blue effect that I’m pretty sure does nothing except give me a headache. A feature I wish did something else entirely but won’t. Completely forgot the arcade tag exists until I died at 47 kick-ups and the game over screen blasted some chiptune fanfare. It’s trying to be funny, I think. A parody of those old Flash browser games where you’d grind for a single jpeg of a nipple. Here the nipple is very much present, eventually, if your wrist doesn’t give out. The ball physics keep betraying me in ways that feel personal. One run I’m a god, next run the ball clips through the paddle and I’m staring at Asuka’s disappointed face, which is honestly on brand for her character. Evangelion fans will get it. Everyone else will just see a redhead and a bouncing ball and wonder why the penguin isn’t in this. Dare to play it alone, or invite company?
Cards ★ 2.7
EVA7- Rebirth
The whole thing runs on spite. Rei just floats there with that blank face but you can tell she's had it, nine years of these two idiots bickering on a chunk of exploded Earth. So she makes them play strip blackjack. The setup is so stupid it wraps back around to genius. Cards feel sticky, like the shuffle animation takes a beat too long every time. Hit detection on the buttons is weird too, sometimes you click and nothing happens then suddenly you've busted because the game registered two clicks at once. Asuka's sprite jiggles when she loses a hand, the art is rough but in that specific Newgrounds way where you can tell someone was really trying. Shinji looks perpetually constipated which is honestly perfect. The voice acting caught me off guard, actual lines being shouted when someone loses, Asuka screaming in german or whatever that is. There's this eyeball icon you can click for hidden stuff but I won't spoil what happens, just know it's worth finding. The blackjack itself is broken in the best way. Dealer logic makes no sense, sometimes the AI hits on 19 and busts, other times it stays on 12 like a coward. You can exploit this if you pay attention to patterns. I lost six hands in a row once because the deck seemed stacked, then won seven straight. The strip element is tied to winning with exactly 21 on two cards, which gives you a piece of clothing back, so there's this weird tension where you almost want to lose first to see more skin but then you need those blackjacks to keep the game going. Never thought I'd be strategizing around Asuka's underwear like it's a resource management sim. The whole thing has that janky Flash energy where nothing quite works right but that's the charm. Background is just space and debris, no music I think, just the card sounds and occasional voice clips. Forgot to mention there's apparently six other Eva games before this one but I never played them and you don't need to. The humor lands more than it misses, especially when Rei's deadpan threats cut through the chaos. Don't expect polish, expect a fever dream that somehow understands the characters better than the rebuild movies.
