PokerBall with Hayden and Bree
Hayden Hawkens has this way of looking at the camera that makes you forget you're supposed to be doing math. Which is a problem, because the whole thing runs on poker hands and I kept losing track of the x-ray balls. They float around over face-down cards, little glowing things, and you click when one passes over a spot you hope is useful. You never actually see your cards until after you pick them. It's like playing blind but with a peep show filter. Bree Daniels shows up later, and honestly her scenes have better pacing. The first video I unlocked was fine, but the audio mix is weird. Like someone recorded it in a bathroom. The poker part is simpler than it sounds. Two pair, three of a kind, flush if you're lucky. Money accumulates and you spend it to unlock the next clip. I wish the ball speed was adjustable because sometimes it crawls and other times it zips past the card you wanted. No consistency. The models are real, that's the draw obviously, and they're both blonde and skinny which seems to be the whole aesthetic. Not complaining. The lesbian scene between them is the main event and it's shot well enough, though the video player has no rewind button. You just watch it once and then it's back to the card table. What kind of design choice is that? If I paid in-game currency I should be able to replay it without grinding more poker hands. The x-ray effect itself is a gimmick that wears thin after the third hand. You see the outline of the card through the ball, but it's fuzzy, so you're guessing half the time. I accidentally picked a two of clubs three times in a row. That's not strategy, that's just bad luck dressed up as a feature. Still, when Hayden does that thing with her shoulder, you kind of stop caring about the royal flush you were chasing. The game knows what it's selling. I just wish the poker wasn't so random. Or maybe that's the point. Maybe you're not supposed to win easily. But then why show the cards at all? Forget it. The videos are hot, the poker is frustrating, and I'll probably try again tomorrow.
