Rodue Courier ★ 3.5 Rogue Courier Vignette 1 Kouia's ship is a piece of shit. Like, the hull creaks when you undock and the nav computer takes a full thirty seconds to plot a jump that should take three. First thing I did was strip out the shield modulator and sell it for fuel credits, then immediately got jumped by three pirate corvettes in the next sector. No shields. Just hull tanking and a dream. The combat's this weird auto-resolve thing where you just sort of watch lasers fly back and forth while percentage bars drain. I had my dick in my hand waiting for the hentai scenes to kick in and honestly that's probably the intended experience. The smut triggers when you lose fights. Which happens a lot. Kouia gets captured, strapped down, and the pirates go to town. The animations are these short looped videos, grainy as hell like they were ripped from a 2006 Flash site. There's this one scene with a tentacle creature in an asteroid base that goes on for way too long and the sound design is just wet squelching noises on repeat. I came out of that fight with negative credits and a damaged cargo bay and honestly I wasn't even mad. The whole thing has this grimy charm, like finding a scratched DVD under someone's bed. The resource management is broken in a way that almost feels deliberate. You grind asteroid fields for ore, sell it at stations, buy upgrades that barely matter. I spent forty minutes optimizing a trade route between two outposts and then a random event wiped my entire inventory. No warning. Just gone. The game didn't even give me a sex scene for it, just a text box saying "your cargo has been confiscated." That's when I realized the whole thing is basically a delivery system for the porn, and the space sim parts are just window dressing. There's this one character, some rival courier who shows up in cutscenes, and her voice acting sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom. But the scene where she corners Kouia in a maintenance shaft, the power dynamics shift, and suddenly I'm paying attention again. The game knows exactly what it is and doesn't apologize for it. I respect that, sort of. The engine crashes if you alt-tab during a jump sequence. Don't do that.
