Summer in Salem - ver 1.4
That loading bar is a liar. It sits there, frozen, while you wonder if your browser just died. Then bam, you're in Salem, on some girl's porch, and the whole thing feels like a half-remembered summer where the AC broke and everyone's a little too sweaty. The art has this rough, almost storyboard quality. Not polished, but that's the charm, right? Like finding a zine from the 90s that someone drew in the margins of their notebook. The character designs are simple but the expressions, when they hit, they hit. There's this one scene with the childhood friend, a close-up where her eyes go half-lidded, and the janky linework somehow makes it more intimate. More real. The whole thing runs on choices that actually branch, not that fake Telltale shit where everything converges. You can end up in wildly different places, some of which are just... over. Abruptly. Like summer ending but you didn't even get to the good part. The sex scenarios. Four of them. They're illustrated with the same unvarnished hand, and there's a desperation to them that polished hentai never captures. A fumbling, urgent quality. One path leads to a scene in a bedroom that's cluttered with stuff, and the messiness of the room bleeds into the act itself. It's not a clean, perfect fantasy. It's sticky and awkward and the dialogue choices beforehand can make her call you a name that stings a little. The sound design is basically nonexistent, just some chiptune loops that I swear are from a Game Boy Color bootleg. It fits. A track with a warbly lead that sounds like a dying star plays during a tense conversation, and I just sat there, letting it loop, before clicking. Don't go in expecting a full meal. This is a snack that got interrupted halfway through cooking. The Patreon link is right there, a little guilt trip baked into the menu. Some endings are just text, no art, like a promise waiting for funding. To get the most out of it, save before every single dialogue choice. Treat it like a broken visual novel where you're poking a bruise to see what color it turns. The real spice is in the failures, the bad endings, the moments where the summer goes sour.
