About this game
So I’m scrolling through like my 47th itch.io page this week, right, and I see this thing called Doll Verse. The description says it’s a “collaboration of 3D and AI” which immediately makes me think of those uncanny valley TikToks where the filter keeps glitching on someone’s nose. But I click anyway because the preview image has proportions that defy both physics and probably several international building codes. The male protagonist thing is whatever, I’ve been a dude in games before, but the real draw is the whole bimbo aesthetic they’re going for. Big ass, big tits, the tags don’t lie. It’s like someone fed a neural network nothing but early 2000s rap video auditions and said “make a game.”
The AI cg thing is weirdly fascinating. Sometimes the renders look almost photorealistic, like you could reach out and poke something, and then two frames later the lighting shifts and suddenly her skin texture looks like melted candle wax. I spent way too long just clicking back and forth between two scenes trying to figure out if the shadow under her left boob was intentional or if the algorithm just gave up. That’s not a complaint exactly. It’s more like... you know when you’re watching a bootleg movie and the camera guy coughs? It adds character. The 3dcg environments are actually pretty solid though, which makes the AI character models feel even more jarring when they clip through a chair. There’s this one scene where she’s bent over a desk and her ponytail phases straight through her own shoulder blade. I screenshotted it. Not for the reason you think, I just want to show someone who understands rendering pipelines.
Actually the desk scene is a good example of what works here. The way the light catches the edge of the furniture, very clean, very intentional. And then right next to it you’ve got this character whose expression keeps subtly shifting between “bedroom eyes” and “confused golden retriever” because the AI can’t decide what emotion it’s going for. I think the game knows what it is though. It’s not trying to be high art. It’s horny and a little broken and honestly that’s more entertaining than half the polished visual novels I’ve refunded this month. The jiggle physics, when they work, are absurd in the best way. When they don’t work, her entire torso vibrates like a washing machine with a brick in it. I laughed out loud. Still kept playing.
