About this game
Another gallery dump from ChapterX, and this one feels like someone left their evidence locker open. You're clicking through photos from a crime scene, basically. The whole setup is this guy got arrested for ***, but the deeper they dig, the worse it gets. Torture. Weird rituals maybe. And then these... creatures start showing up in the background of some shots.
The art has that rough, almost documentary quality. Like someone scanned polaroids they shouldn't have. Not polished at all, and that's exactly why it works. One image is just a woman's face, but the fear in her eyes feels too real. Next one she's on a dirty mattress, some thing with too many limbs hunched over her. The hard sex scenes don't pull punches. Rough doesn't cover it. There's oral that looks more like punishment than pleasure, toys that seem improvised from hardware store parts. The creatures join in sometimes, and that's where it gets genuinely disturbing in a way most "monster porn" games never manage.
I spent way too long staring at one photo where you can see a reflection in a mirror. There's something in the corner that shouldn't be there, and the game never points it out. You just notice it, or you don't. That kind of detail makes me forgive the occasional janky anatomy. Though honestly, some of the human figures look like they were traced from different references and the proportions don't always match up.
The gallery format means no choices, no branching paths. You're just a voyeur flipping through evidence. Does that make you complicit? The game seems to ask that question without ever saying it out loud. The "authorities trying to find the creatures" plot thread goes absolutely nowhere, by the way. Just gets dropped after the third or fourth mention. But maybe that's the point. Some cases stay cold.
