You know that feeling when you find a patreon project that's clearly someone's first attempt and the renders look like they were lit with a single desk lamp from 2007? That's the vibe here. Odd Creek's debut visual novel about a college road trip with your small town friend. The character models have that specific DAZ3D stiffness where hands look like they're perpetually holding invisible oranges and the skin textures have this waxy sheen that reminds me of those old Poser renders people used to post on DeviantArt. Not complaining exactly, there's something almost nostalgic about it.
The setup is bare bones. You're heading to college, she's your childhood friend, there's a camping van involved. The dialogue reads like it was translated through three languages and then back to English by someone who learned sentence structure exclusively from text messages. "You are looking very nice today, I am thinking we should maybe do the sex now." That kind of energy. But here's the thing, the awkwardness actually makes some of the explicit scenes land differently than those polished triple-A porn games where everyone talks like they're in a bad HBO drama. When the hard sex scenes finally happen, there's this clumsy enthusiasm to them that feels more genuine than I expected. The big boobs physics are absolutely unhinged though, like someone set the jiggle parameters to "water balloon in an earthquake" and walked away.
The camping van setting is weirdly underused. You'd think a confined space would create natural tension but half the scenes feel like they're happening in a void.
