About this game
The camera is the first thing that actually feels dangerous. Not in a jump scare way. More like finding a loaded gun in your grandpa's attic, except this one rewrites your stepmom's personality between breakfast and dinner. I spent twenty minutes just clicking through the photo album, watching her posture change in each shot. Slumped shoulders. Then straighter. Then that little smirk. The game calls it corruption but it's more like watching someone remember a version of themselves that never existed.
And the mechanics are so barebones it's almost insulting. Point, click, watch the scene play out. No skill trees, no branching dialogue that matters. You're basically a tourist in your own house, snapping pictures while the women around you slowly unravel. The neighbor lady starts leaving her blinds open. Your sister's friend "accidentally" texts you instead of her. Standard stuff. But there's this one scene, maybe two hours in, where you catch the mom character touching herself on the couch, and she doesn't stop when she notices you. Just holds eye contact. The animation loops are janky as hell, her hand clipping through the blanket, but something about the dead expression mixed with the motion made me put my phone down for a second.
The paranormal tag is doing a lot of heavy lifting. There's this shadow thing that appears in reflections sometimes, and I still don't know if it's a glitch or intentional. The game never explains it. Same with the camera's origin. Some old dude's basement, whatever. What sticks is the voyeurism angle. You're not participating half the time, just documenting. Watching the sister character shower through a crack in the door, the camera zooming in automatically like it has its own hunger. The blackmail scenes feel gross in a way that's probably intentional but the writing is too clumsy to land the emotional weight. "Send me the video or I'll show everyone" type dialogue. Feels like a porn script from 2007.
The mind control stuff gets weirdly specific. You can make the aunt character forget she's related to you. That's a whole thing. The game doesn't judge, just presents the option and lets you sit with it. I tried reversing it once and the option was greyed out. Permanent choices in a game this unpolished feels almost disrespectful. Like finding a moral dilemma in a gas station bathroom. The exhibitionism scenes escalate fast, public stuff that makes no logical sense but the 3D models are detailed enough to make you uncomfortable. Big ass is an understatement. Everyone's proportions are ridiculous, which I guess is the point, but it clashes with the horror undertones. Hard to feel dread when someone's chest defies physics.
The male protagonist is a blank slate with a customizable name, which makes the whole thing feel like a weird self-insert experiment gone wrong. I named him Greg. Greg's a monster by day three. The game doesn't give you a choice, not really. You either keep taking pictures or you close the browser. I kept taking pictures.
