About this game
The first thing that hit me was the sound. Not music, just this weird ambient drone that reminded me of a fridge running in an empty apartment. Very specific, I know. The game doesn't care about polish and honestly neither do I after the third scene with the vizier's daughter. She's got these eyes that are just slightly too big for her face, like a pug, but in a way that works. You start as some street rat in a desert city that smells like spices and bad decisions, and then suddenly you're on a boat and everything's frozen. The tonal whiplash is real.
Combat is basically rock paper scissors with tits. I spent way too long trying to figure out if the ice mage love interest was actually wearing clothes or if it was just body paint. Spoiler: it's paint. The writing doesn't take itself seriously which is good because neither does the plot about saving the world. There's this one scene where you're supposed to be having this deep emotional moment with the northern warrior woman but the dialogue options are like "comfort her" "kiss her" or "wonder what's for dinner" and I picked dinner because I'm a terrible person and she got so mad she froze my character's pants off. Literally. You fight naked for the next two encounters.
The animations are janky in that specific way where you can tell someone really tried but didn't quite have the budget. Reminds me of those old Newgrounds games before everyone got professional about it. The desert section has way more content than the cold areas and it feels like they ran out of steam halfway through, but what's there is... enthusiastic. There's a genie character who's supposed to be mysterious but just comes off as horny and confused, which is honestly a mood. The whole thing feels like someone's D&D campaign where the DM gave up on rules and just started describing everyone's outfits in increasingly desperate detail.
