About this game
The alien shows up looking like a deflated basketball with anxiety, and honestly, that's the most relatable thing in Jon's entire shit life. Time Loop Hunter doesn't waste time pretending to be polished. The art has that raw CG hentai feel where sometimes a tit looks like it's trying to escape the frame, and the dialogue reads like someone translated it through three different languages and then back through a hangover. But here's the thing. The opening scene where Jon's sitting in his garbage apartment, parole bracelet buzzing, mom's angry texts piling up, and then this pathetic alien just materializes next to the microwave? It sets the tone perfectly. You know exactly what you're getting: a visual novel that's horny, stupid, and weirdly committed to its own nonsense.
The time loop mechanic is basically an excuse to replay scenes and make different degenerate choices. You're hunting brain parasites, which means you get to "investigate" people, and by investigate I mean the usual visual novel thing where you click through text until clothes fall off. The invasion angle is more about what's invading people's minds, but let's be real, you're here for the family tag doing heavy lifting. Jon's mom and sisters hate him, and the game lets you explore that tension in ways that would make a therapist quit their job. The alien keeps nagging you to focus on saving humanity, but the loop structure means you can just keep running back the same encounters, trying different approaches. Some scenes are genuinely hot in that messy, unpolished way where the jank actually adds something. Like finding a dirty magazine in a dumpster that somehow has exactly your specific kink.
What bugs me though, and I'll never get over it, is that the alien's design changes slightly between scenes. His eye stalks are different lengths. Nobody talks about this. Also the sound effects are just stock library stuff, that same wet slap noise every single time. You know the one. But the game knows what it is. A grimy little time loop fantasy about a fuckup who gets to unfuck his choices, sometimes literally. Don't expect the parasite plot to make sense by the end. It won't. Just enjoy looping back to that one scene with the sister where the dialogue gets surprisingly mean and the CG actually lands. Future players: save before every major choice, and don't feel bad about using the loop to be the worst version of Jon. The alien's disappointed face is worth it.
