About this game

I thought the dungeon would be the scary part. It's not. The scary part is trying to write a thesis when your research subjects keep trying to, you know.

The setup is this magic school, right? Very fancy, very Pigfarts if you get the reference. You're Zana, a student who needs monster data. So you go into dungeons with classmates. Makes sense. What doesn't make sense is how quickly "field research" turns into "oh no I tripped and now there's tentacles." The game knows what it is. It doesn't pretend to be deep. The humor is actually funny sometimes, like the monster descriptions read like someone's drunk bestiary notes. Then five seconds later you're watching an animation that made me forget what I was writing about.

The art style. It's rough. Deliberately so, I think? Like someone drew it during a lecture and then just went with it. Sometimes that works for the comedy, sometimes I'm squinting at a slime wondering if that's a face or I need glasses. The sex scenes though. They commit. Full commitment. No fade to black bullshit. The dungeon crawling is basically a vehicle for encounters and honestly that's fine because the encounters are what you're here for. I just wish the navigation wasn't so... I got lost once. Twice. The map is useless. But then a harpy shows up and suddenly I don't care about the map anymore.

The classmates. There's this one girl, I forget her name, who keeps getting into situations that would make a hentai protagonist blush. And she's supposed to be the smart one. The disconnect between "we're academics" and "we're currently being ravished by a minotaur" never stops being jarring in the best way. The dialogue during these moments is either surprisingly clever or absolute nonsense. No middle ground. I laughed out loud at a line about proper citation methods mid-scene and then immediately questioned my life choices.

Replay value? I mean, you're not here for branching narratives. You're here to see what happens when you poke the wrong mushroom. And the game delivers that. Over and over. Sometimes literally the same animation but with a different color palette. Which should bother me more than it does. But here we are.
