About this game

Dildo Fishing loads up like a forgotten Newgrounds flash game from 2006, complete with janky hitboxes and a color palette that looks like it was picked by someone who just discovered the saturation slider. The premise is exactly what the title promises. You sit in a boat, you cast a line with a dildo instead of a lure, and you reel in mermaids or scuba divers to fuck them. That's it. That's the whole loop.

The blonde diver has this animation where she surfaces and immediately looks confused, which is the most relatable thing in the entire experience. The redhead mermaid's tail physics are completely broken, it clips through the boat constantly, and honestly I spent more time trying to break the game than actually engaging with the intended mechanics. There's a minigame for the actual reeling part that requires timing clicks, but the feedback window is so inconsistent that half the time you lose the catch for no discernible reason. The arcade structure means you're just chasing a high score, which resets when you close the browser tab because there's no save system. Classic.

The audio is a single looping track that sounds like royalty free tropical muzak, and the sound effects are stock splashes that cut off mid-sample. I wish the fishing rod upgrades actually changed anything visually but they don't. The whole thing runs in browser and somehow still manages to lag when multiple mermaids are on screen. There's something almost admirable about how little it tries to be anything other than what it is. No crafting system, no dialogue trees, no relationship meters. Just dildos and fish-people and a boat that doesn't move. The diver character model reuses the same surprised expression for every interaction and I can't tell if that's a bug or a design choice. Probably both.
