The first thing that hits you is that warning about Chrome and Firefox, like the game itself is about to fall apart if you breathe wrong. And honestly? It kinda fits. Into the Forest chapter 4 feels like walking into a mansion that’s been rotting for years, doors creaking open on secrets that probably should’ve stayed buried. I don’t know what I expected after three chapters of buildup, but the way the story just... drips out information, half of it making no sense unless you’ve been taking notes like a crazy person, is exactly my thing.

There’s this moment with one of the mansion’s inhabitants where the dialogue choices actually matter, and I picked the wrong one on purpose just to see what would happen. The RPG elements are light, basically just moving through rooms and triggering events, but the adventure part is real because you genuinely don’t know which door leads to a clue and which leads to something that’ll make you feel like you need a shower. The story’s got this thing where characters reference events from earlier chapters like you’re supposed to remember every single line of dialogue, and I don’t, so I just nodded along and kept clicking. The forest outside the mansion keeps getting mentioned but you never really go there in this chapter, which felt like a tease. Babusgames clearly knows how to keep you hanging, and the Patreon exclusive scene thing is annoying but also I get it, the HD version probably looks insane on a proper screen instead of my laggy browser window. There’s a point where the mystery almost unravels but then another locked door appears and you realize you’re not getting answers today, just more questions and more reasons to feel kinda gross about yourself.
