About this game
The first thing that hits you is the font. It's like someone took a perfectly readable typeface and then deliberately smeared vaseline on the screen. I get it, the whole "unpolished" aesthetic is a choice, a statement even. But my eyes, man. My eyes are bleeding. And not in the fun, hentai way. You play as some nobody climbing the Illuminati ladder, which sounds grand, but it's mostly clicking through text boxes that look like they were designed in a pirated copy of Photoshop from 2003. The story is... there. Something about secret societies and power, but honestly I was distracted by a spelling error in the second quest description. "Recieve" the package. It's still there. I checked yesterday.
The sex scenes unlock like a weird gacha machine. You make a choice, hope the RNG gods favor you, and then bam, a static image of a tentacle doing something geometrically improbable to a woman who looks vaguely surprised but not upset. The art is actually decent, which is the contradiction that keeps me clicking. It's like finding a perfectly cooked steak on a trash can lid. Why is the good stuff buried under this interface that fights you at every click? The adventure and RPG tags are doing a lot of heavy lifting. There's no real inventory to speak of, just a series of "go here, click this" quests that feel less like an epic journey and more like doing your taxes if your tax form occasionally showed you a nipple.
I wish the choice system had more teeth. Most of the time it's an illusion, a fork in the road where one path leads to content and the other leads to a "game over, try again" screen that loads slower than my grandma crossing the street. The Illuminati theme is just window dressing, a coat of paint on a bog-standard visual novel skeleton. You could replace every mention of the secret cabal with "the local knitting circle" and nothing would change. The power fantasy is limp. I wanted to feel like a shadowy mastermind, not a guy fumbling with a broken UI while a poorly compressed JPEG of a succubus judges me. Still, I'm going back in. That one scene with the pyramid and the... well, you'll know it when you see it. It's got its hooks in me, the stupid, poorly-aliased hooks.
