About this game
Right, so the Yuletide log is burning, the mulled wine is spiked with something definitely not cinnamon, and I'm trying to build a festive themed brothel. Because nothing says holiday spirit like a red and green garter belt. The whole thing has this unpolished charm, like a gift wrapped by someone who was already three eggnogs deep. The dev, Orochy, is upfront about it being a work in progress, and you feel that in the bones of the thing. Sometimes a menu button feels like it's held on with tape and a prayer.
The core loop is simple. Get girls, set prices, watch the pixelated hentai scenes play out. I spent an embarrassing amount of time just tweaking the decor for the "Winter Wonderland" room, trying to get the fake snow texture to not clip through the bed. The sex scenes are visualized, which is the point, right? They're crude but they get the job done. There's this one elf character, I think her name was Lumi, and her little animation loop has this awkward pause where you can almost see the code trying to remember what comes next. It's weirdly endearing. The missions try to give you a story, something about a rival brothel lord who's a real Scrooge, but honestly I just kept getting distracted by the money counter ticking up. That little dopamine hit of seeing the coins pile up while a client is busy in room three. Wish there was a way to automate the cleaning minigame though. It's just clicking on puddles. Feels like a chore, and not the fun kind.
The sound design is a whole other beast. The background music is this one lo-fi jazz track that loops every forty seconds. It's burned into my brain now. I'll be at the grocery store and suddenly I'm humming it, getting weird looks near the eggnog. The moaning sound effects are stock as hell, I swear I heard the same "oh yeah" in a flash game from 2006. But somehow, in this janky little world, it fits. It's like finding a dirty snow globe that plays a slightly off-key tune. You don't know why you keep shaking it, but you do. The whole thing is a mess, a horny, ambitious, half-finished mess, and I can't stop checking in on my little empire of sin between wrapping presents. The dev has big plans, a whole living world. Right now it's more of a slightly twitching world, but I'm weirdly invested in seeing if it ever learns to walk.
